KATHMANDU: With Wednesday’s resumption of the hearing of the case relating to the dissolving of the House of Representatives(HoR), Senior Advocate Sushil Pant defending Prime Minister KP Oli’s move of dissolving the HoR argued that though PM’s move might affect federalism and republic, it has safeguarded the sovereignty and national integrity of Nepal.
“Federalism and republic as written in the constitution can be shaken but the sovereignty and national integrity will not be shaken with dissolving the HoR,” Senior Advocate Pant said defending the government’s move reiterating, “The concern now is safeguarding the sovereignty and national integrity which the PM’s move has not impaired from any point.”
Advocate Pant asked if the writ petitioners and the justices thought the constitution would be incomplete if it had not incorporated sovereignty and national integrity.
He also claimed that the dissolution of the parliament is constitutional and the Prime Minister has the right to dissolve it.
