KATHMANDU: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun and Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota have boycotted the swearing-in ceremony held for the newly appointed officials of the constitutional bodies on Wednesday.
Vice President Pun and Speaker Sapkota abstained from the oath taking ceremony organized at Shital Niwas this morning.
“Speaker Sapkota has clearly stated his views in writing. The parliamentary hearing has not taken place in line with Article 292 of the Constitution. The appointments in the constitutional bodies have been made by breaching the provisions of the Constitution,” said secretariat of the Speaker.
On Sunday, Speaker Sapkota sent back the names of officials recommended for parliamentary hearing, saying that there no situation for conducting the hearing.
Similarly, Vice President Pun has informed Sital Niwas that he could not attend the ceremony on the ground of health issues.
“His health condition is not good for the last few days. He informed Sital Niwas Tuesday itself that he would not be present at the oath taking ceremony,” said Vice President Pun’s press advisor Manoj Gharti Magar.
