Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll reaches 1,878 as eight more succumb to pandemic



KATHMANDU: As many as eight COVID-19 patients succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the new deaths have taken the country’s death toll from the coronavirus to 1,878 as of Sunday afternoon.

Likewise, the country recorded a total of 421 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the coronavirus tally reached 2,61,859 in the country as of Sunday afternoon.

Likewise, the Ministry shared that now the country has 5,487 reported active cases of the virus.

In the past 24 hours, altogether 637 infected people got recovery from the virus infection. So far, 2,54,494 people recovered from the coronavirus infection in the country.

Similarly, 8 persons succumbed to the virus across the country in the past 24 hours, hitting the total COVID-19 related deaths to 1,878.

Meanwhile, three more Nepalis abroad succumbed to the coronavirus pandemic in the past week.

According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), one Nepali national died in the UK and two in Portugal.

With the deaths, the death toll of Nepalis abroad due to the coronavirus has reached 315 as of Saturday evening, said NRNA Health Committee Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota.

A total of 53,385 Nepalis in 50 countries have contracted the coronavirus and among them, 50,656 have recovered so far.
