KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) is holding a meeting of its Central Working Committee (CWC) on Sunday.

The party had convened the meeting on December 22 to discuss the political and constitutional crisis after President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the House of Representatives on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Oli.

The meeting was postponed till today after President Sher Bahadur Deuba proposed to adjourn the meeting to prepare for the nationwide demonstration and reconciliation day.

The party held a nationwide protest against the dissolution of the House of Representatives on December 28 and organized programs in each district on the National Reconciliation Day on December 31.

The party has been divided over a protest against House dissolution. President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been saying that remarks regarding the House dissolution should not be made as the issue is currently under consideration at the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, senior leader Ram Chandra-led faction has been insisting on heating the streets even if to put pressure on the court. The faction will emphasize this issue in today’s meeting as well.

It should be noted that the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Saturday announced the second phase of protest programs against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

The disgruntled faction decided to hold the second phase of the demonstration after the main opposition hesitated to jointly hit the streets.

PM Oli and NC President Deuba had reached an agreement that if HoR were not dissolved, they would run a coalition government and in case of dissolution, they would go for the mid-term polls by forming an electoral alliance with each other, according to sources.
