BYD Auto hands over electric ambulance to KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital

KATHMANDU: Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of BYD Auto Co. Ltd. in Nepal, has successfully completed the handover of the first electric ambulance BYD T3 in Nepal to KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital.

The handover ceremony was held at the premises of KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital at Gwarko, Lalitpur.

“KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital has become the first health care service provider in Nepal to adopt Electric Ambulance. Adopting electric mobility will not only reduce our impact on the environment by lowering our CO2 levels but also ensure that patients receive the highest standards of safety and comfort. The addition of the Electric Vehicle to our fleet marks a milestone for us as it is a pledge towards the society and environment. The vehicle is fully equipped with a ventilator and all other options necessary for a full graded Ambulance. The hospital is looking forward to expand its ambulatory services by strengthening the emergency department and its strict protocols.” said,  Amish Pathak, Chief of Operations and Management, KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital.

Ltd., an authorized distributor of BYD Auto Co. Ltd., in Nepal.

Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., has supported KIST Hospital in adopting electric mobility by providing its BYD T3 at a subsidized rate as it is the first introduction of an Electric Vehicle in the Healthcare Sector.

This is a major breakthrough for electric mobility in Health Sector, with the introduction of the BYD T3 van as an electric ambulance.

The pure electric van BYD T3 is equipped with a 50.3 kWh battery capable of running all day on a single charge.

BYD T3 has a driving range of 310km on a single charge along with 3800 liters of cargo space in the rear capable of carrying loads up to 800kg.

The electric ambulance is specially designed to keep the COVID-19 crisis in mind and is well-equipped with an oxygen tank, ventilator, ECG monitor, and collapsible stretcher.
