Woman held for asking Rs 2 mln from detainees promising them release



KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), Kathmandu has arrested a woman on the charge of demanding Rs 2 million from detainees.

The MPCD arrested Durga Mahato Khanal, 38, of Chitwan for asking the aforementioned amount of money from detainees – Bishal Tamang, Binod Tamang of Shivapur municipality, Nuwakot and Kami Singh Syangtan of Chitwan,  promising them that they would be released.

They had been arrested with the leopard hide from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, Airport Sekuwa Corner on Tuesday.

Durga Mahato had asked for Rs 2 million from them promising that she would help release them from the custody.

Mahato will be charged in accordance with the fraud case, said the MPCD.
