RPP General Convention affected over delegates’ dispute

KATHMANDU: The schedule of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) General Convention has been affected as the dispute of the General Convention delegates could not be resolved.

The party is entangled in a row between the two camps – one led by Chairman Kamal Thapa and the other led by General Secretary Rajendra Lingden — for two days over the delegates.

The schedule of the General Convention has been affected due to the failure to settle the dispute in time.

The RPP general convention was inaugurated on Wednesday.

The party had earlier said it would finalize the voters’ list before the inauguration program.

However, the voter list was not finalized till Wednesday night because of the dispute.

Leaders of the Lingden faction have alleged that the list of delegates from the district has been manipulated under the direction of Chairman Thapa.

The two sides have been holding discussions for two days to resolve the dispute.

RPP has elected 330 state assembly delegates from the local level. Women, Dalits, minorities from every constituency were to be included in the General Convention delegates.

The party has more than 4,000 representatives.
