Speaker Sapkota-led delegation returns home from Madrid

Says will now be focused to end parliamentary deadlock

KATHMANDU: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has returned home after participating in the 143rd conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), a global organization of national parliaments.

The delegation led by Speaker Sapkota arrived in Kathmandu this morning. Sapkota, leading the delegation, had left for Madrid, the capital city of Spain, on November 24 to participate in the conference held from November 26 to 30.

Sapkota had addressed the IPU assembly and the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TA), Speaker Sapkota said he presented the democratic achievements of constitution making, inclusiveness, proportional representation in the international community.

On a different note, Speaker Sapkota said he will now be focused on breaking the deadlock seen in the parliament. He further said that he would immediately call an all-party meeting to regulate the parliamentary proceedings.
