NC Senior leader Poudel demands the resignation of the Chief Justice

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) Ram Chandra Poudel has demanded that Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana should resign from the post at the earliest.

Senior leader Poudel suggested that a dignified exit sought by Chief Justice Rana would be the resignation from the post of Chief Justice as early as possible.

Speaking at a program organized by NC District Working Committee, Makwanpur, in Hetauda on Tuesday morning, he signaled that Chief Justice Rana’s departure would be insulting as he was delaying.

Poudel accused the then Prime Minister KP Oli of making the Constitutional Council a puppet by breaking the spirit of the constitution.

“Other institutions have collapsed. The Supreme Court, the last temple of justice for the people of the country, is being demolished today,” he said, “Judiciary’s dignity can hardly be restored unless the Chief Justice resigned.”

In a different context, NC senior leader Poudel said that the party could move forward in the right direction only by changing the leadership.
