Nepal Bar Association President Shrestha warns of street agitation against Chief Justice Rana

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) Chandeshwar Shrestha has warned of street agitation provided Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana disregards the three day ultimatum and does not resign from the post by Wednesday.

NBA has scheduled a three-day agitation demanding Rana’s resignation and has already given him an ultimatum to resign by tomorrow.

Addressing the third day’s agitation at the Nepal Bar premises, President Shrestha warned to go for street agitation if the Chief Justice does not resign.

“Judiciary has faced an unprecedented crisis due to Chief Justice Rana,” he said, adding, “He should resign immediately rather than putting the judiciary to further controversy.”

The NBA president warned that the street-protest would not make any exit ‘graceful’.

He also said that the more Rana led the court, the more the judiciary would collapse.
