POKHARA: Gandaki University has made preparations to run classes from Sunday after two years of its establishment.

The University organised an orientation programme to students enrolled in the first batch under Bachelor’s in Sports Management (BSM) and Bachelor’s in Information Technology before running the classes. BSM is the first of its kind in the country.

Inaugurating the orientation programme, Chairperson of University Judicial Council, Dr Dinesh Chandra Devkota expressed the view that the university would produce human resources to be able to compete nationally and internationally.

He said that the country could be changed through education if the system of knowledge, attitude and individual behaviours is changed, adding that the university would hold further discussion with the Gandaki Province government for the same.

Similarly, Chief Secretary of Gandaki Province, Dr Damodar Regmi, shared that it is a matter of happiness that the University has run the classes under sports management at the Bachelor level.

Expressing the belief that capable human resources in sports management subjects would be produced as there is a possibility of sports tourism in the province, he pointed out the need for producing qualified human resources rather than certificated.

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Dr Nabaraj Devkota shared that the University was at work to offer classes to foreign students by signing agreements with renowned universities in Europe and the United States.

A total of 67 students including 16 in Bachelor’s in Sports Management, 31 in Bachelor’s in Information technology and 20 in Bachelor of Pharmacy have got into the University.
