Truck-hit kills motorcyclist in Rautahat



KATHMANDU: One motorcycle rider has died after a moving truck hit his bike on the Chadi-Bagmati stretch of the East-West Highway at Chandrapur Municipality-2 in Rautahat district.

Police identified the deceased as Sonalal Chaudhary, 37, of Judibela in Chandrapur-2. Chaudhary is a local leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) and a former joint secretary of the Janajyoti Multiple Campus, Chandranigahapur.

An Indian truck (UP 35 AT 4273) coming from the east hit Chaudhary, who was riding a motorcycle with number plate Na 35 Pa 1893, near Chandipul at 9 pm Friday. He was taken to the local Apollo City Hospital for treatment but could not be saved, police said.

The truck driver, Sarvesh Kumar, 32, of Uttar Pradesh, India, along with the truck was taken into custody, police said.
