Three killed, one go missing in Kaski landslides



POKHARA: Three people have died in landslides that occurred in separate places in Kaski district. A minor has gone missing and five others have sustained critical injuries.

According to District Police Office (DPO), Kaski, Krishna Shrestha, 45, of Bhalam, Pokhara-20 and his wife Sunmaya Tamang, 35, died when a landslide buried their house due to incessant rains since Wednesday evening. Shrestha died at Manipal Teaching Hospital while Sunmaya died on the spot.

Their 3-year-old son Santosh has gone missing while another 9-year-old son Rajkumar has sustained injuries.
Similarly, a 42-year-old Laksha Nepali died when a house in Pokhara-11, Bhanjyang Namunatol was buried in a landslide.

Kaski police spokesperson DSP Subash Hamal said that Nepali died while undergoing treatment at Manipal Teaching Hospital.

The deceased’s 14-year-old daughter Srishti has been discharged after treatment. His wife and two sons were rescued at midnight and have been kept at their relative’s house, police said.

Similarly, Ekdev Timilsina, his wife Ritu and son Girish were injured when a house in Pokhara-11 was buried in a landslide.
