NC leader Kalyan Gurung announces his candidacy for president

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) youth leader Kalyan Gurung has announced his candidacy for the post of president for the 14th General Convention.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Gurung, who is also a central working committee (CWC) member of the NC, announced his candidature for the post of party president.

He said that there should be interference from the youth in the leadership of the party, adding that his plan was to have one person in one post and only two terms in any post.

“Currently, only a limited number of people in the name of women, Adivasi-Janajati, Dalit, Madhesi, backward community and Khas-Arya are taking advantage of reservation in the NC. In such a situation, when will the new ones get the opportunity?” Gurung said while announcing his candidature for the post of the president during the press meet.

Gurung is also the former president of the Nepal Students Union, the student wing of the NC.

The 14th General Convention of the NC has been slated for November 25-29.
