NC resolves active membership dispute through consensus

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to resolve the dispute related to active memberships through political consensus.

A meeting of NC office-bearers and former office-bearers held at the party office in Sanepa on Friday decided to resolve the dispute over active membership distribution through consensus.

The meeting decided to resolve the complaints and grievances about the active membership by consensus, said NC leader and coordinator of the active membership probe committee Ramesh Lekhak. He said, “We have discussed holding the convention properly. The consensus was required on some issues regarding the management and finalization of active memberships, and now there is a consensus.”

After reaching an agreement among the top leaders on active memberships, Lekhak said they would now focus on the general convention. He said, “Now we will complete the work of active membership as soon as possible.”

According to the leader Lekhak, out of 470,000 active members, 400,000 members have been renewed so far and more than 400,000 new members have been added.

He informed that the committee will investigate the complaints about the memberships. He said, “Various complaints regarding renewal and new members will now be settled through mutual understanding.”

Memberships of members of other parties, who have joined the NC, will also be renewed by consensus. Lekhak claims that there is no problem with active membership anymore.
