Nepali Congress office bearers’ meeting underway

KATHMANDU: A meeting of Nepali Congress (NC) office bearers’ has started at party central office in Sanepa. The meeting called for 2 pm started after 5 pm Friday.

Before the meeting started, Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel had separate discussions.

Officials and former office bearers have met to discuss issues, including the 14th general convention. It has been decided to hold the 14th General Convention from September 1-4.

A meeting has been held Friday to resolve the disputes in the active membership. There is a dispute in the party over about 5,000 active members. The issues of the active memberships have been seen in over 500 wards across the country at a time when there are hardly two weeks left before the ward and municipality and rural municipality conventions.

The issues cropped up after the influential party leaders attached the distribution of the active memberships to their win and loss in the upcoming general convention.

Central Working Committee (CWC) member Arjun Narashinga KC has said it has been a hard nut to crack for the party to resolve the issue seen on active memberships before the general convention.
