UML’s CC meeting begins at Baluwatar first time following its revival

Nepal-Khanal faction abstains

KATHMANDU: A Central Committee (CC) meeting of the ruling CPN-UML has started at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, for the first time following its restoration.

The leaders of the Nepal-Khanal faction are taking part in the CC meeting, despite invitation. However, Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam is attending the meeting.

The CC meeting is taking place under a tent in the open lawn on the premises of the Prime Minister’s residence.

The CC meeting is being held for the first time after the 10th National Convention Organizing Committee (NGOC) was scrapped Wednesday.

UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli had been ignoring leader Nepal in other meetings of the party in the past. It may be noted that leaders of Nepal faction did not attend Wednesday’s meet.

UML central Office Secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang Thursday said a letter notifying about Friday’s CC meeting was sent via email to all leaders, including leaders of the disgruntled faction led by Nepal.

With the dissolution of the 10th NGOC, the action taken against 11 people, including leaders Khanal and Nepal, has been nullified, said Chairman Oli.

He also nominated former Maoist leaders, who joined the party on May 17, 2018, to the CC yesterday.

The Nepal-Khanal faction has been dissatisfied after the Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the Oli faction Wednesday appointed 23 erstwhile Maoist Center leaders, including four to the SC, to the CC.
