Nepal-Khanal faction not to attend UML’s CC meeting today

Deems it illegal

KATHMANDU: Nepal-Khanal faction has decided not to attend the central committee (CC) meeting called by the Oli faction of the ruling CPN-UML for today.

The Standing Committee meeting of the disgruntled faction held on Thursday took a decision to this effect demanding that Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has to restore the previous status of the party that existed prior to May 16, 2018 without preconditions.

A meeting of the Standing Committee of Nepal faction was held on Thursday to discuss the issue. Leader Ghanashyam Bhusal said as the meeting was called by the 10th General Convention Organizing Committee, it is illegal. “The meeting convened tomorrow is a meeting convened by an illegal committee. It does not appear to be in favor of party unity,” he said.

The leaders of the Nepal-Khanal faction have demanded that the establishment has to scrap the appointments of some office bearers in the 10th general organizing committee and has demanded to call the meeting pursuant to the ninth general convention of the party.

The central committee of the UML is taking place today. Senior leaders Madhav Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal have also been invited to the meeting.
