Kathmandu valley sees 1,456 fresh cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: As many as 1,456 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry, 969 persons in Kathmandu, 306 in Lalitpur, and 181 in Bhaktapur have been tested positive for the pandemic virus, as of Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Nepal recorded a total of 5,316 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. This has taken the total number of infection cases from the COVID-19 to 571,111.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 4,524 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 through the RT-PCR method while 792 have been tested positive through the Antigen method. There had been total 16,878 tests throughout the country in past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 7,219 persons returned home after complete health recovery from COVID-19. With this the number of people recovered from the pandemic reached 461,563 till date. The recovery rate has become 80.8% percent on Wednesday.

According to the Ministry, 101 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours taking the COVID-19 related death toll to 7,555.
