UML’s Standing Committee meeting postponed yet again

KATHMANDU: A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the ruling CPN-UML has been postponed citing “ongoing efforts” for party unity.

A meeting held on Tuesday had decided that the party leadership would maintain maximum flexibility for the party unity.

The SC meeting was scheduled to be held at Baluwatar at 4 pm on Wednesday was postponed since the second-rung leaders were making efforts for party unity.

The leaders of both the factions – Prime Minister KP Oli and Madha Kumar Nepal — have intensified efforts to narrow down differences of the ruling party which, earlier, was on the brink of a split.

The action which the establishment faction was planning to take against leaders of the disgruntled faction was stalled following a meeting of the second-rung UML leaders at Yak and Yeti Hotel on Monday.
