KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) leaders Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato have held a meeting with Minister for Heath and Population Hridayesh Tripathi.

The three leaders held talks in Singha Durbar on Tuesday, sources have claimed.

These three leaders were in the erstwhile Rastriya Janata Party (RJP). Tripathi had formed a separate party during the general elections. Currently, he is the Health Minister.

The trio in the meeting has dwelled on the formation of a new party, according to soruces.

The Thakur-Mahato faction has discussed reviving the erstwhile RJP in collaboration with Tripathi.

The JSP is engaged in a bitter row with two factions seeking an explanation from one another.

Observers say the JSP is on the brink of split after the two factions have been sharply divided after Prime Minister KP Oli dissolved the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that the JSP was formed after uniting two parties – Rastriya Janata Party and Samajbadi Party Nepal – last year with the objective of forming an alternative political force in the country to champion the cause of equality, identity, and empowering the marginalized communities.
