Tiger snatches away 50-yr-old woman



BARDIYA: A tiger has snatched away a woman who was riding at the back of a motorcycle in Kuwabhar of Bardiya National Park in the district.

The wild beast pounced upon 50-year-old Nandakala Thapa of Lamkichuha municipality-4 and took her away on Friday night, said Bardiya National Park.

The incident took place when the victim and her son were returning home on a motorcycle at 8:30 pm yesterday. The motorcyclist has sustained minor injuries while the body of the woman has not yet been recovered despite a search.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from the national park and the Nepal Army had been deployed to the incident site in search of the woman, said Bishnu Prasad Shrestha, the conservation officer of Bardiya National Park.
