Central Security Committee urges not to crowd



KATHMANDU: The informal meeting of the Central Security Committee convened on Monday decided to implement the health safety protocols against COVID-19 since there could be crowding during the upcoming festivals.

Chaired by Acting Prime Minister Bal Krishna Khand, the meeting convened at the Ministry of Home Affairs decided to appeal the related ministries and line agencies to effectively implement the safety measures, according to ministry spokesperson Phadindramani Niraula.

Stating that we should learn from the past incidence of COVID-19 cases going up due to negligence, Niraula shared that there will not be any prohibitory order or special order currently.

In attendance in the meeting were Minister for Defence Dr Minendra Rijal, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Narayan Khadka, Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada, Minister for General Administration and Federal Affairs Rajendra Shrestha and secretaries of various ministries and chief of security agencies in the country.

Meanwhile, the government appealed to those going out of the Kathmandu valley for Tihar festival to get vaccination prior to their travel. To facilitate the vaccination drive for this target group, the government will administer vaccines to people from various places such as Kalanki, Koteshwor, New Buspark and Samakhusi from coming Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health and Population has urged one and all to carry their identity card for vaccination.
