Karnali Chief Minister Shahi vacating post for NC

SURKHET: Karnali Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi is set to resign from the post to make room for coalition partner Nepali Congress (NC) to lead the province.

According to sources, CM Shahi has called a cabinet meeting for 5 pm Monday.

Earlier, CPN-Maoist Center and NC had made an agreement, in April, on power-sharing in Karnali province.

Chief Minister Shahi had bagged a vote of confidence on April 16.

With Maoist-Center leader Shahi’s resignation from the post, Nepali Congress leader in Karnali Province Assembly Jeevan Bahadur Shahi is likely to be the next Chief Minister.
