Hearing on writ petition against Speaker Sapkota postponed yet again

KATHMANDU: The hearing of the case against Speaker Agni Sapkota has been postponed yet again.

The Supreme Court (SC) was scheduled to hear the case on Wednesday.

A writ petition had been filed against Sapkota for his alleged involvement in the murder of Arjun Lama.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana had constituted a Constitutional Bench comprising Justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Meera Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada to hear the case.

This writ petition against Speaker was sub-judice at the apex court.

Human rights activist Shushil Pyakurel, journalist Kanakmani Dikshit including Purnimaya Lama, the deceased’s wife, had lodged a writ petition.

The writ petition has often been postponed even though it is scheduled in the cause-list.

Although the court has this time labelled the case as the one that can not be heard now, it has not specified what are the reasons  leading to such conclusion.
