UML’s Khanal-Nepal faction unlikely to join govt: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has hinted that CPN-UML’s Khanal-Nepal faction is likely to reiterate its stance of retaining the party unity rather than joining the government.

Briefing Maoist Center’s Standing Committee (SC) meeting taking place at party’s central office at Paris Danda, in Kathmandu, on Sunday, Chairman Prachanda said Khanal-Nepal faction is unlikely to join the coalition government.

He said that the expansion of the Council of Ministers would take a few days as the issue of power sharing of ministries had to be re-negotiated.

“Now we have to discuss this issue with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Upendra Yadav soon and finalize the cabinet,” the Maoist Center Chairman said.

Maoist Center has scheduled the next meeting of the party’s Standing Committee for Monday.

Maoist Chairman Prachanda had met UML Senior leader Nepal on Sunday morning.
