Maoist Chairman Prachanda, UML leader Nepal hold talks



KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have held talks at Nepal’s residence in Koteshwor.

Prachanda reached at leader Nepal’s residence to discuss power-sharing, among other issues.

Prachanda is trying to woo the Madhav-led faction to join the government. However, leaders in the faction are divided over the issue of joining the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government.

Several leaders in the faction are emphasizing party unity saying that they should not join the government, while others are insisting that they should join the government.

It should be noted that the CPN-UML Standing Committee meeting was postponed on Saturday without entering the agenda saying that it would strive for party unity on Sunday as well.

The Council of Ministers has not been expanded as the Madhav Nepal faction has not given a green signal to join the cabinet.
