8th session of National Assembly taking place today

Likely to dwell on ordinances



KATHMANDU: The eight session of the National Assembly is taking place today.

The NA session has been called at 4 pm on July 1. President Bidya Devi Bhandari Thursday summoned the session of NA. The session will take place at Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.

A statement issued by the President’s Office said that the NA session was summoned as per the recommendation of the cabinet meeting held Thursday.

The members of the parliament including chairman underwent antigen tests Wednesday itself.

The chairman will begin the session by reading out the letter sent by the President summoning the session and the one regarding the cabinet reformation in the meeting.

Following the reading of the President’s letters, there is an agenda of tabling various ordinances for endorsement in the meeting.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is likely to table Constitutional Council Ordinance (Functions, Duties and Rights and Responsibilities, and Work Procedure) (First Amendment), 2077 and Oath Ordinance, 2078.

Similarly, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bishnu Paudel will table various ordinances including Nepal Citizenship (First Amendment), Ordinance, 2078, Ordinance on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission for Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, 2077.
