Army climbs to second with comfortable win over Biratnagar

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC) moved onto second place after defeating Biratnagar Metropolitan City 7-0 in the National Women’s League match on Monday.

Sharmila Thapa scored a hat-trick and Bimala Chaudhary hit two for the departmental side. Rashmi Ghising and Bimala BK also scored a goal each.

Biratnagar lies two places below TAFC in fourth place after the defeat.

TAFC coach Raju Tamang said they initially had problems with the midfield and could not score goals. “The first goal lifted our confidence. We were able to capitalize chances in the second half,” said Tamang.

Biratnagar coach Paras Chaudhary said they had planned to stop TAFC forwards from scoring but the early goal dashed their hopes.

“We quickly conceded more goals after the first one. Our strategy did not work today,” said Chaudhary.
