Govt attorneys begin presenting arguments on writs against HoR dissolution



KATHMANDU: Government attorneys have started advocating the writs against the dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR) on behalf of the Primer Minister at the Supreme Court on Monday.

Currently, Attorney General Agni Kharel is presenting his arguments on the writ petition.

Advocates including petitioners finished their advocacies on behalf of the writ petitioners on Sunday. As many 70 as legal practitioners had advocated the writ petitions for 13 days, arguing that the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) is unconstitutional.

As many as 186 advocates including 11 government attorneys are expected to deliver their arguments on the writ petitions on behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

On last December 20, President Bidya Bhandari dissolved the HoR on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

The government has been claiming that the HoR dissolution is in line with the Constitution.
