Prachanda-Nepal faction informs Election Commission of ousting KP Oli as NCP chair

KATHMANDU: The Prachanda-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has officially informed the Election Commission of the removal of Prime Minister KP Oli as the party’s Chairman.

Standing Committee Member Lilamani Pokharel said that a letter was filed Thursday informing on removing Prime Minister Oli from the post of party Chairman and appointing Madhav Kumar Nepal as Chairman.

A Central Committee meeting of the faction held on December 22 had sacked Prime Minister Oli from NCP chairmanship. Oli was accused of acting against national and party interests, repeatedly violating party decisions, dissolving Parliament, and attacking the constitution.

The meeting had picked leader Nepal as the new Chairman.
