EC approves Gender and inclusive policy in election management



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has approved the Gender and Inclusive Policy on Election Management -2077 BS.

The policy was adopted with the objectives of making election management process fair, free, impartial, trustworthy and economic by maintaining gender friendly and inclusive for the institutional development of democracy.

The EC shares that the policy was adopted following the spirit of gender equality, empowerment and inclusiveness mentioned in the constitutional provisions, existing election laws, and fifteenth five-yearly plan.

EC had garnered suggestions from the political parties, parliamentary committees, stakeholders, experts, inter-party women’s network along with adopting the principles of participatory and inclusive representations while preparing it.
