COVID-19 update: 3,715 die in last 24 hours across world

KATHMANDU: With the COVID-19 going pandemic across the world, the total death toll from the novel virus has reached 37, 780 as of Tuesday morning.

The deadly virus has spread to 199 countries, killing 3,715 people in the last 24 hours globally.

According to the latest figures collated by Johns Hopkins University, a total of 784, 716 have been infected. Of them, 158,504 have recovered after treatment. Currently,  581, 566 are undergoing  treatment at various hospitals, of which, 29, 597 are critical.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, China has recorded the highest number of people infected with the novel virus. Similarly, the infection rate is also highest in America.

With the 19, 988 new cases, the total number of people infected with the virus in America has reached 163, 479. A total of 3, 148 have died so far.

Spain has recorded the highest death toll in the last 24 hours. According to the latest figures collated by the Worldometer, as many as 913 people died in Spain as of Tuesday morning, taking the total to 7,716.

Similarly, 7,845 new cases appeared in a single day taking the total to 87,956. Of them, 16, 780 have recovered after treatment.

In Spain, the condition of 5, 231 among 63, 460 people undergoing treatment is critical.

According to Johns Hopkins University, a total of 3, 186 people have died in China where the novel virus first broke out.

Italy has the highest death toll with 11, 591 people after 812 died in the last 24 hours.
