SC decision on HoR dissolution should not be affected thru demonstrations: Deuba

KATHMANDU: President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has said no protest rallies should hinder the Supreme Court’s decision even though the prime minister’s move to dissolve the parliament is unconstitutional.

Speaking at a virtual program organized on the occasion of 45th National Unity and Reconciliation Day by the Publicity Department of the party, Deuba said the dissolution of the House of Representatives is absolutely unconstitutional, anti-democratic and against the mandate of the people.

He further said we should wait until the final verdict of the SC’s decision sine it is still sub-judice in the court.

“Parties should not intervene in the decision of the SC through street demonstrations or threats. We should wait until the final decision of the apex court,” said Deuba.

The NC has concluded that the government’s step to dissolve the HoR is unconstitutional and been raising voices against it throughout the country, added Deuba.

The NC has been celebrating the Day of Nepali month Poush 16 as the National Unity and Reconciliation Day in commemoration of the return of the first democratically elected Prime Minister BP Koirala from his exile in India.

It has been observing the 45th National Unity and Reconciliation Day today by organizing various programs across the country.
