Cold grips Valley as mercury dips to 0.8 degree

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley has witnessed the lowest temperature of the year on Thursday morning.

The temperature was recorded at 1.2 degree Celsius at 6 am. It went down to 0.8 degree when it was measured at 9 am, informed Raju Pradhananga, a meteorologist. This is the record low temperature of this year.

According to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), the lowest temperature is recorded in Jumla with 8.5 degree followed by Dipayal with 0.4 and Birendranagar with 1.9 degree Celsius.

The weather is partly cloudy in the hilly region while the most parts of Tarai are covered in thick fogs due to westerly wind, according to the Division.
