NCP Vice-chair Gautam demands to nominate him to National Assembly

KATHMANDU: Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam has demanded to implement the party’s earlier decision to appoint him to the National Assembly.

According to Gautam’s press coordinator Bishwamani Subedi, Gautam is ready to be inducted into the vacant seat of the upper house.

“He is ready to accept the party’s decision. The task force has also suggested to that end”, said Subedi.

A Secretariat meeting on February 26 had decided to pick Gautam a member of the National Assembly. It was decided to nominate by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers after March 3. The decision has not been implemented yet.

Gautam had lost the parliamentarian elections held in 2017. He had fought the elections from Bardiya-1, representing the then left alliance.

It is learned that Prime Minister KP Oli has been taking a stand to continue Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada by reappointing him to the upper house. The Prime Minister had hinted that in a recent interview.
