Health Minister calls for tobacco-free generation



KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal on Sunday called for making new generation free from the use of tobacco.

Minister Dhakal called all to remain proactive from their respective sectors to make the people of new generation free of tobacco and nicotine.

He said it was a common responsibility to encourage the younger generation not to use tobacco.

Minister Dhakal also stressed the need for full implementation of existing Acts, laws and directives to avoid the tobacco products.

According to a World Health Organization report, the infection of coronavirus is severe among the tobacco products users.

Likewise, WHO states that 8 million people die of tobacco consumption every year and the tobacco intake is also the main reason for lung diseases, respiratory related problems and others.
