Lighting kills 14 in past one month



KATHMANDU: Lightning strikes have claimed 14 and injured 98 people in the last one month.

According to National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority 89 people had died in the last one year while 14 people were killed in a single month this year.

A total of 929 people died due to lightning strikes in the last nine years.

On average, 100 died due to lighting a year according to statistics maintained by the Authority.

With the start of the pre-monsoon caused by the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, the incidents of lightning strikes have gone up in the country, of late.
