KATHMANDU: The government has extended the tenure of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission for Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP) by a year.

A meeting of Cabinet held on Monday decided to that effect, Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota said at a press briefing on Thursday.

The commissions have their primary objectives to resolve conflict issues and provide transitional justice to the war-era victims.

The government had recently appointed office-bearers to the commissions.
