KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has alleged Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” of doing “politics of conspiracy”.

“I urge Prachanda to quit politics of conspiracy,” PM Oli told a gathering of his party cadres at a program in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

With a sniff of sarcasm, PM Oli said, “I tried to hug him with all my heart and soul but he deceived me. He tried to hug me like Dhritarashtra (Father of antagonist Duryodhana in Mahabharata) trying to crumble me.”

“I label him (Prachanda) as a politician who is accustomed to conspiracies. I have repeatedly said that politics should serve the people with sincerity,” PM Oli added.

PM Oli urged Prachanda to quit such politics and dismissed claims that the Prachanda-Madhav Kumar Nepal faction enjoyed a majority in the NCP. “They (Prachanda-Nepal) do not have a majority as claimed,” he said amid cheering supporters.

PM Oli also came down heavily on Prachanda for making an electoral alliance with the Nepali Congress party to help his daughter win the election in Chitwan.

He also lambasted the Prachanda-Nepal faction of not allowing people who work for the people, party, and the country.

The ruling Nepal Communist Party has been politically divided after President Bidya Bhandari dissolved the House of Representatives (HoR) on the recommendation of the Prime Minister on December 20.

Oli has been holding talks with the leaders and cadres of his faction at Baluwatar itself.

He had held a consultation with the lawmakers of both HoR and Upper House on December 21 and a meeting with the central committee members on December 22.

Earlier, the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the NCP had organized Standing Committee and CC meetings at Karki Banquet. A CC meeting of the disgruntled faction held at the banqueet had ousted Oli from the post of chairman.

The Oli faction is also organizing a Kathmandu district-level cadres’ orientation program at City Hall in the capital on January 2.
