16-year-old Nepali girl travels to India to meet her Indian Facebook friend



KATHMANDU: In a surprising incident, a 16-year-old girl from Nepal travelled to India to meet her Facebook friend.

The incident has been reported in Sehore district in Madhya Pradesh, where the 20-year-old FB friend of the girl lives.

According to the news agency, PTI reports, the minor girl to be handed over to a children welfare committee in Bhopal, police said on Sunday.

The girl reportedly a resident of Kathmandu, told MP police that she had been in touch with the man, who lives in Sehore district, for the last two years via Facebook, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Mohan Sarwan told reporters.

The police officer also told that the girl informed them that she flew to India from Kathmandu. She then travelled on buses in various cities in India before she reached her FB friend on Saturday.

However, police came to know about the girl’s arrival to India through her FB friend, who works in a medical store.

Meanwhile, the girl has been handed over to Bhopal’s Children Welfare Committee after her COVID-19 test. Police will take further action to send her back to Nepal, SDOP told reporters.
