Nepal registers 3,517 fresh coronavirus cases

KATHMANDU: As many as 3,517 people have been diagnosed coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal’s COVID-19 has reached 168,235 with the fresh cases as of Friday afternoon.

Altogether 14,989 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

A total of 4,096 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 128,958 in the country.

The recovery rate stands at 76.7 percent.

Nepal currently has 38,357 active cases.

Likewise, 2,666 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

As many as 16 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the COVID-19 death tally in the country to 920, the Ministry confirmed.

A total of 300 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 71 have been put on ventilator support.

According to the Ministry, 34 persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, 13 in Province 2, 191 in Bagmati Province, 15 in Gandaki Province, 40 in Lumbini Province, four in Karnali Province, and three in Sudurpaschim Province.

A total of eight in Province 1, two in Province 2, 55 in Bagmati, three in Gandaki Province, and three in Lumbini Province are on the ventilator support.

Meanwhile, a total of 14 out of 77 districts in Nepal have over 500 active cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari in Province 1, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Kavre in Bagmati Province, Kaski and Nawalparasi East in Gandaki Province, Dang, and Rupandehi in Lumbini Province and Kailali in Sudurpaschim Province have over 500 active cases.

Mustang and Manang have zero active cases.
