Gandaki Pradesh records fresh 98 COVID-19 cases, one death



KATHMANDU: Ninety-eight additional people have been infected with COVID-19 in Gandaki Pradesh till Friday morning.

With today’s infection cases, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached 1,145 in the province.

According to three press notes issued by the Ministry of Social Development of Gandaki Pradesh, seven people from three districts have been infected with the virus.

The infected are six people from Byas municipality, Tanahun and one from Pokhara Metropolitan City-17.

They were confirmed infected during tests at the laboratory of Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences.

Similarly, 65 people from four districts of Gandaki Pradesh were confirmed infected with the virus during tests at the laboratory of Life Care Diagnostic Pvt. Ltd., Pokhara.

The infected are three from Syangja, three from Tanahun, and one each from Parbat and Kaski. Of them, 38 are from Pokhara, Kaski while the addresses of 20 others are yet to be established.

Similarly, 26 people from four districts have been confirmed infected with the virus during tests at the laboratory of Chitwan Medical College, Chitwan.

Those infected are 10 from Kawasoti municipality, Nawalparasi East, eight from Gaidakot municipality, three from Madhyabindu municipality and one from Binayatribeni rural municipality and one each from Rainas rural municipality, Lamjung, Pokhara Metropolitan City-11, Kaski, Siranchowk rural municipality-4, Gorkha, and Palungtar municipality-8.

Likewise, one among those infected in Gandaki Pradesh in the last 24 hours has succumbed to the virus. The deceased has been identified as a 72-year-old man of Galkot municipality-3, Baglung.

The septuagenarian died in the course of treatment at Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences at 5 pm on Thursday.

The elderly was suffering from pneumonia and high blood pressure. With this, the number of COVID-19 deaths has reached 73 in Gandaki Pradesh till date.
