14 more coronavirus deaths reported in Nepal

KATHMANDU: As many as 14 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in Nepal on Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the number of deaths related to coronavirus in the country has reached 221 so far.

Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health said four females and 10 males succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Four females 74-year-old of Sunsari, 47-year-old of Bara, 62-year-old of Mahottari and 72-year-old of Kathmandu and 10 males aged 60 of Sunsari, 62 of Morang, 70 of Mahottari, 30 of Rautahat, 29 of Lalitpur, 65 of Bhaktapur, 62 of Nawalparasi (East) and 57 and 67 of Rupandehi, who were infected with COVID-19 died in the last 24 hours.

On Sunday, two people succumbed to the pandemic at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.

A 74-year-old woman and her 60-year-old son from Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-17 have died to the pandemic at the BPKIHS.

The mother died at 8:30 am and the son at 7:45 am, according to BPKIHS’ Director Dinesh Sapkota. The woman was admitted to the hospital with complaints of cough, breathlessness and fever on Saturday and was diagnosed coronavirus positive today.

She was also suffering from hypertension and diabetics.

The man was also admitted to the hospital with similar symptoms on Saturday.

A total of 18 COVID-19 patients have died at the hospital so far.

Likewise, a 52-year-old male succumbed to coronavirus at the Bharatpur-based Chitwan Medical College on Sunday afternoon.

A resident of Bharatpur Metropolis-10, the victim was suffering from pneumonia. He was being treated on ventilator.

Likewise, sexagenarian COVID-19 patient under home isolation succumbed to the pandemic on Saturday night.

A 65-year-old man of Dudhpati in Bhaktapur Municipality-1 died last night, said Ward Chairman Shyam Krishna Khatri.

The deceased was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure and was diagnosed coronavirus positive on Thursday.

This is the first time an infected person living under home isolation died in Bhaktapur.

With the death, the COVID-19 death toll in Bhaktapur has reached seven.

Likewise, three people have died while undergoing treatment for the coronavirus at Patan Hospital.

The deceased have been identified as a 29-year-old man from Lalitpur, a 57-year-old man from Bhairahawa and a 62-year-old woman from Jaleshwor, said Director at the hospital Ravi Shakya.

He said that a man from Bhairahawa died at 7 pm on Saturday and youth from Lalitpur at 10 pm yesterday. A woman from Jaleshwor succumbed to the pandemic at 2 pm on Saturday.

According to the hospital, a young man from Patan and a man from Bhairahawa had kidney-related ailments.

Director Shakya said that the woman from Jaleshwor had blood-related issues.

Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man from Rautahat died in Birgunj on Sunday.

Likewise, a coronavirus-infected man has died at the Temporary COVID Hospital under Lumbini Provincial Hospital.

A 67-year-old man from Butwal Sub-metropolis-5 died at the isolation of the hospital at around 12:30 pm on Sunday, according to the hospital.

He was admitted to the hospital at 4:35 am today with complaints of cough, fever and breathlessness.

Similarly, two people died of coronavirus in Chitwan.
