Bagmati Province to build 2,000 houses

HEATUADA: Under the People Settlement Programme, Bagmati Province Government constructed a total of 620 houses out of 2,246 houses that it is targeting to build in 10 different districts.

The Province Government had allocated Rs 430 million in the last fiscal year and Rs 86.3 million is allocated in the current fiscal year too for the program, the Province’s Physical Infrastructure Development Ministry said.

The Ministry plans to develop 766 houses in Chitwan, 650 in Makawanpur, 350 in Dhading and 50 each in Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Dolakha, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Rasuwa and Nuwakot.

The Ministry said that the target has been set to complete the construction of 580 houses in the districts.
Under the integrated settlement development program, the houses would be built for highly-marginalized communities including Majhi, Musahar and Chepang.

Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Rameshwor Phuyal said that the Province Government has not stopped the houses’ development task at any pretext. No one would be kept homeless and the task of building construction for them is unhindered as per the plan, he added.
