Minister Bhatta says he received death threat over MCC

KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekh Raj Bhatta has received death threat from a person in Bajhang district.

According to Minister Bhatta, a person who hails from Bajhang, gave him a call and warned him to behead him.

Bhatta claimed that the call is meant to divert him from his support to Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

“A man from Bajhang gave me a call and threatened to behead me wherever he will meet me provided I kept speaking in support of the MCC,” the Minister for Industry said.

“When I asked him if he has read about MCC grant, he said he doesn’t have much idea on the issue,” he said.

Taking part in a discussion organized at the parliamentary Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer’s Welfare Committee, Minister Bhatta revealed that he received a death threat from a person ignorant about the positive impacts of MCC and added that people have been talking negatively about networking business without knowing anything about it.

“As in case of MCC, people have been opposing networking business without studying about it,” he added.
