Complainant gets one-month jail along with a fine of Rs 63,000



KATHMANDU: Chitwan District Court sentenced a complainant to one month in jail along with a fine of Rs 63,000 for filing a false case.

A single bench of district judge Hemanta Rawal issued a verdict slapping a one-month jail-term on the complainant along with the fine for filing false accusations against an innocent person.

A 19-year-old girl of Bharatpur Metropolitan City had filed a case at the district court against a police official accusing him of raping her.

The 12th grader had later recorded statement admitting that she had lodged false accusations at the court against the defendant.

The complainant has been penalized for tarnishing the image of an innocent person and unnecessarily giving him troubles, the court’s decision said.
