189 new cases confirmed, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally jumps to 1,401



KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported 189 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the national tally stands at 1,401, the Ministry of Health and Population stated on Saturday.

Among the infected, 185 are male and 4 female, according to Dr. Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that seven from Dhanusha, one from Jhapa, 109 from Kapilvastu, one from Lalitpur, four from Mahottari, six from Rautahat, 17 from Sarlahi, 11 from Siraha, nine from Saptari, five from Dang, 14 from Dailekh, one from Bara, two from Parsa and two from Sankhuwasabha have been confirmed to be infected.

Similarly, 13 persons have discharged today after recovery taking the tally to 219.

Out of them, 172 are males while 47 are females.

A total of 110,078 people have been quarantined across the country currently.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that 7,166 people in Province 1, 18,171 in Province 2, 2,223 in Bagmati Province, 3,026 in Gandaki Province, 33,451 in Province 5, 18,936 in Karnali Province and 30,310 in Sudurpaschim Province have been quarantined.

Likewise, 1,176 are in isolation across the country, he said.

A total of 130 people are in isolation in Province 1, 442 in Province 2, 15 in Bagmati Province, 17 in Gandaki Province, 496 in Province 5, 61 in Karnali Province and 15 in Sudurpaschim Province.

According to the Ministry of Health, 66,729 tests have been carried out using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR0 method so far. Out of this, 2,575 samples were tested through the PCR method in the last 24 hours.

Earlier on Friday, Nepal had reported 170 positive cases that had taken the tally to 1,212.
