Bollywood actor Irfan Khan passes away



MUMBAI: Bollywood popular actor Irfan Khan has passed away at a hospital in Mumbai today.

A versatile actor regarded highly successful in Bollywood, Irfan has also acted in British films and Hollywood in his thirty-year-long film career.

The 53-year-old actor had been battling cancer since 2018.

His official spokesperson had confirmed on Tuesday that he was under doctor’s observation.

Khan has received numerous awards including a National film Award and Film fare Awards in four categories.

He was awarded the Padma Shree, India’s fourth highest civilian honor for his contribution to the field of arts in 2011.

Khan’s last film was ‘Angrezi Medium’, which hit the screens days before the lockdown was announced.

His innocent portrayal of a father willing to go against all odds for his daughter was much lauded by fans.

Due to the lockdown, ‘Angrezi Medium’ stopped playing in theatres and was later released on an OTT platform.

Most of the film critics, contemporaries and other experts consider him to be one of the finest actors in Indian cinema for his versatile and natural acting.

He is survived by his wife Sutapa and sons – Babil and Ayan.
