Asteroid passing Earth today



KATHMANDU: Officially dubbed Asteriod 1998 OR2, the space rock will come within 6.29 million km of Earth at around 3 pm today.

The asteroid will be the closest to Earth on April 29.

The asteroid is a near-Earth object, meaning it orbits the Sun within 1.3 astronomical units (au).

The asteroid has also been classified as a Potentially Hazardous Object. However, it will fly by the earth today harmlessly, NASA has said.
